Whitepenny is a brand and digital strategy consultancy working primarily in nonprofits and foundations, B2B professional services, financial services, food and beverage, and family-owned enterprises. A large part of our work is helping organizations clarify what they stand for and bring that story to life through digital channels.

That’s where you come in. We’re looking for a contract Director of Social Media and Digital Storytelling to lead organic social strategy for our clients and help build this capability within the firm.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute organic social media strategies for clients across our core sectors
  • Create content calendars and pillar frameworks that connect brand positioning to business objectives
  • Lead digital storytelling by translating complex missions and value propositions into platform-native content
  • Design and manage influencer and employee advocacy programs
  • Oversee content creation including copy, creative direction for graphics and short-form video
  • Manage community engagement, social media engagement, and real-time response strategies
  • Develop thought leadership content strategies for clients and their teams
  • Track performance and deliver insights that tie social activity to business outcomes
  • Contribute to new business development, including social media audits and strategy recommendations for RFPs
  • Help shape the long-term vision for social media services at Whitepenny

Who You Are

  • 5+ years in social media strategy and content marketing, with at least 3 years at the director level
  • Agency or consultancy experience; able to manage multiple client accounts
  • Deep knowledge of LinkedIn (B2B), Instagram, and Facebook and when each platform makes sense
  • Proven track record building organic strategies that drive real brand awareness and community engagement
  • A storyteller at heart who knows how to find a brand’s voice and bring it to life authentically
  • Experience across B2B and B2C
  • Proficient in social media management and analytics platforms
  • Strong writer who can adapt voice and tone across brands and platforms
  • Able to brief designers, review content, and maintain brand consistency
  • Based in the Philadelphia/South Jersey region or available for periodic in-person collaboration at our Haddonfield office

What You’re Looking For

  • A consultancy that values long-term strategy over short-term tactics
  • Senior-level client work with organizations that are actually making a difference
  • A collaborative team of experienced professionals (10–25 years each) who care about outcomes
  • The opportunity to shape a practice area, not just execute someone else’s playbook
  • A company that understands you have a life outside of work
  • Flexibility in how, when, and where you work

Why Whitepenny

In an era when creative agencies are shrinking, rebranding, or merging out of necessity, Whitepenny is growing—in size, influence, and impact. We’re 22 years young and built for this moment of disruption.

We’re a research and consumer insights-led firm delivering solutions that unlock growth, accelerate new initiatives, drive impact, support capital formation, and help our clients attract and retain talent. We’re not a traditional creative agency; we’re a business strategy consultancy that happens to be expert at telling stories that drive brand awareness, business outcomes, and company and family value.

If you want to do meaningful work with a team that’s leaning into the future rather than holding on to the past, we’d like to meet you.

The Details

  • Contract position with flexible hours based on client needs and project flow
  • Competitive contract rate commensurate with experience
  • Hybrid/remote arrangement with periodic in-person collaboration at our Haddonfield, NJ office
  • Potential for the engagement to expand as the practice grows

  • Experience with influencer marketing and UGC programs
  • Background in SEO and content marketing integration
  • Photography or video production skills
  • Experience building employee advocacy programs from the ground up
